RPM Fabrication and Onderko Motorsports for 2010
03-01-10
- Justin
Onderko and the Onderko Motorsports team are
currently getting ready for the 2010 Late
Model racing season. This year, however, is
a little bit different. Not only will Justin
be competing in Onderko Motorsports prepared
cars, but he has recently signed with RPM
Fabrication Inc. to drive their #58 Late
Model at Sundance Vacations Speedway in
Hazleton, Pa.
2009 held some bright spots for the Onderko
Motorsports team, including 2 heat race wins
at Sundance Vacations Speedway and a 6th
place debut in the ASA Late Model racing
series at Shangri La II, located in Owego,
NY. “Last year we turned a corner in our
entire program,” Onderko continued,
“everything from our chassis department, to
our engine package.” While the team
continues to expand, they have decided to
keep their engines locally prepared. “Barry
Ober, of Ober Performance in Lititz, Pa,
builds a great motor, we see no reason to
change,” Onderko’s crew chief, Michael,
stated, “They will also power the RPM’s
#58.”
The upgrades in resources have resulted in
better on track performances as well. “The
car is fast right off the trailer, and that
certainly helps. Its made it easier on the
entire crew,” stated Justin, last year at
the NELMA 100, “we’ve all been doing a
better job.”
They certainly have, and that extra effort
has caught the eyes of Joe Polny and Tiffany
Harmon, owners of RPM Fabrication Inc.
“Justin and I were talking at the end of the
’09 season and I told him to come up and see
our cars, maybe we could work something
out.” said Polny. After a meeting in
November the two recently sat down to
finalize the contract that would place
Justin as the pilot of the #58. “Joe has
always prepared great cars, he is definitely
a contender wherever he goes,” Justin said.
Harmon, co-owner of the #58 stated, “We
noticed Justin takes care of his equipment,
and that’s a big part of this sport, to be
around at the end of the race.
The two are looking to be more than
contenders this upcoming year. They have
announced plans to run for the Late Model
Championship at Sundance Vacations Speedway.
There is plenty of work to do to get ready
for the season but both Polny and Onderko
are anxious to get started. The opening
weekend is April 17-18 with qualifying set
for Saturday the 17th and the first race of
the year slated for Sunday the 18th.
